Best Flat Sandals for Summer

Writer's picture: Kristi SawickiKristi Sawicki

Just before the stay at home orders took effect, I went out and purchased a bunch of heels for Spring/Summer. I was obsessed with Bottega Veneta sandals, but not willing to spend over $1200 on a trendy sandal. I made it my mission to find the best dupes. I could do a post on that but then I figured who cares much about heels right now. Now over two months into quarantine, I haven’t left the house, and those pretty little shoes are sitting pretty in my closet. I do try them on frequently, pretend for a minute I might be going somewhere and then place them back on their shelf to be admired. But then I started thinking, since I do walk outside, around my yard, and down to the mailbox every day, I could use a few flats. Not to mention, it would be a waste to not take advantage of some of the great sales going on. I collected a few cute and comfortable styles, and I’m sharing those today. Hurry, some are still on sale!

Dolce Vita Cait: these come in 14 different color options, I chose the brown and the white croc. These remind me of the Hermes Oran, though they are different in the design, I feel they have the same effect. They look classy and elegant while still casually cool. I probably would have invested in the Hermes this year, but COVID has me rethinking luxury (probably not a bad thing). These are comfy out of the box, but it definitely helps to wear them around the house a few times to soften the leather a bit. Steve Madden Travel Clear: comes in 5 colors, including the tan that was really popular last summer. I decided to go with the clear because I love a nude or clear sandal for the effect it gives the legs and feet. I also love the Valentino vide of these without being a copy of an exact style. I also love that this brings back the gladiator-style, which I missed for a few years. Basically, there isn’t much I don’t adore about this shoe. And it is also pretty darn comfortable, which is a huge plus for a strappy sandal. Dolce Vita Kiki: comes in 8 colors, I limited myself to 3 which wasn’t easy. First of all, they are on sale, and I paid under $30 a pair. And once I tried them on, I realized they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The leather is soft and needs no breaking in. Not to mention the square toe and all the cute color combos. I went with the lemon/snake (which surprisingly looks good with nearly everything), the leopard/tan, and the rose gold. I’m tempted to buy an extra one for next year (backups in case these get ruined)- that is how much I adore these shoes. Steve Madden Serafina White: these come in 4 colors, including the white. Admittedly, this isn’t a shoe I would wear to the mailbox, but I could not resist. And since I am still holding out hope for a late-year beach vacation, I figured it would be nice to have this cutie waiting. Again, it nails the Valentino vide for a fraction of the price. While I do love Valentino, I can’t see paying $595 for a shoe I will probably wear for 1-2 seasons and limited even at that. These do the job, and I can spend a little extra on a hotel room- if things ever open back up…WHEN things open back up. Tory Burch Metal Miller: Summer would just not be summer without a fresh pair of Tory Burch Miller sandals. These go with EVERYTHING. Technically I bought the tan metal Miller’s last summer, but I am going to pre-order these new ones in the pink moon color; it’s so darn pretty. If you are only going to buy one sandal, I suggest a Miller. If you buy two, then grab this and one of the DV Kikis. Thank me later. Well, ladies, that is all for today. I know people are just sitting at home in sweats, and some might be wondering why I even bother. I’ve always said that I dress for myself and now you know it is true. I like to look cute, regardless of who else sees me. I see me.
