This creamy drink is the perfect antidote to a sweet tooth and is full of antioxidants and body loving herbs and adaptogens. There is nothing sweeter on a cold winter day. This can also be prepared iced, if you like that. It's really simple to make if you use a pre-mix or you can mix up a big batch of the spices to use over and over again.
My preferred brand for pre-mixed brand is: Anima Mundi Golden Moon Milk which contains relaxing plants, such as Ashwagandha, along with restorative 'spirit' plants such as Reishi, and Blue Lotus. It contains essential digestive herbs that assist relaxation such as lavender, cardamom, and vanilla. This tea is medicine!
I also like Cosmic Gold by Moon Juice which contains adaptogens like Reishi, Ashwagandha, and Astragalus to help manage stress while Silver Ear Mushroom, Hyaluronic Acid, and Tocos support collagen synthesis and promote hydration and skin suppleness.
If you prefer to make your own here is the recipe:
*to make a big batch multiply each ingredient by 10, 20, 30, whatever you like...and store the rest in a glass jar with tight lid.
1 heaping tsp tumeric powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
1 heaping tsp ashwaganda powder (another option here)
1/2 tsp reshi powder (or here)
1 cup of unsweetened coconut, almond, cashew or oat milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: 2 pitted dates or 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup or monk fruit
Optional: 1 tsp MCT oil or coconut oil
Optional: 1 scoop collagen powder
If using coconut oil, heat the coconut oil over medium-low and add all of the spices or 1 tsp of the pre-made mix into a sauce pan. Stir for 30 seconds to warm the spices. Add the mink into the pan and continue to heat while whisking. Pout into a mug and add sweetener of choice and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
Alternative method: Use this method if using the dates to sweeten. Put all ingredients into a Vitamix blender and blend until smooth. If using blender method the coconut oil will not work well, but MCT is fine.
If you like it iced simple pour from the blender into a glass with ice and enjoy.
For the "dirty" version, replace half the milk with coffee or espresso.

Benefits of Ashwaganda AKA Ayurvedic Ginseng:
Master Tonic | Strength | Endurance + Resilience
Ashwagandha, one of India's greatest botanical and adaptogenic treasures. Popularly known as Indian Ginseng, it's very well known for its ability to calm, soothe and strengthen the body.
In Ayurveda, the magic of Ashwagandha and fellow adaptogenic plants, are that they hold this deep intelligence that provides the body what’s needed. For example, if you’re anxious, Ashwagandha will calm you; if you are constantly fatigued, Ashwagandha will boost your energy and stamina. To this day, scientists don’t understand how adaptogenic plants can medicinally provide this based on Individual needs, but they do.
Ashwagandha can help support the immune, cerebral, neurological, endocrine and reproductive systems. Clinically proven to help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and may increase brain cognition, support thyroid function, support adrenal health, as well as help balance blood sugar levels.
Key Benefits:
Helps to stabilize mood, relieve insomnia, and revitalize the body
Can significantly lower cortisol levels, stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms
Can help overcome adrenal fatigue
Can increase brain cognition
Can increase thyroid function (particularly for hypo-thyroid)
Can help balance blood sugar levels and manage weight and food cravings in chronic stress patients
Benefits of Reshi:
SPIRIT NOURISHING | IMMUNE PROTECTION | FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
The reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum), an edible type of medicinal fungus that has been used for various healing abilities for thousands of years, is a true “superfood.” Also known as Ling Zhi in Chinese, these mushrooms are strongly anti-inflammatory and tied to longevity, better immune function and mental clarity — perhaps that’s why they’ve adopted the nickname “king of mushrooms.”
Throughout history in holistic medicine practices, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Reishi mushrooms have been considered to be adaptogen herb-like substances, meaning they help us deal with the negative effects of stress — such as increased inflammation, depleted energy levels, damaged blood vessels and various types of hormonal imbalances.
Key Benefits:
anti-inflammatory
helps fight fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome)
reduces frequent infections (urinary tract, bronchitis, respiratory infections, etc.)
supports digestion and leaky gut syndrome
supports autoimmune disorders
protection against diabetes
protection against viruses, including the flu, HIV/AIDS or hepatitis
protection against heart disease, hypertension, high blood pressure and high cholesterol
supports better sleep
improves anxiety and depression
Because they work as an “immune modulator,” Reishi mushrooms can help restore hormonal balance, bring the body back to homeostasis and regulate activity of the immune system, including fighting tumors and cancerous cells. Research shows that Reishi mushrooms act like a normalizing substance, regulating various cellular functions and systems, including the endocrine (hormonal), immune, cardiovascular, central nervous and digestive systems.
